High-ROI Window and Door Installations for Home Value, Part 2
In part one of this two-part blog series, we went over some of the basic concepts associated with return-on-investment (ROI) for various home upgrades. Any homeowner making improvements to their structure should prioritize not only the raw cost of such improvements, but also the value they will carry moving forward and how this will impact your overall property value as a whole.
At Peach Building Products, we’re proud to offer several high-ROI home improvement services, from residential windows to entry doors, sliding glass doors and a variety of custom door products. In today’s part two, we’ll go over two other specific kinds of home upgrades we offer that carry excellent ROI, plus some tips we can offer within each of these areas to maximize the value you receive.
Entry Doors
Entry doors are one type of home improvement item that offer fantastic ROI and value in nearly every case. This is particularly true for steel doors(fiberglass not steel), which recouped around 75% of their value last year compared to the overall cost.
Entry door replacements improve not only home security, but also curb appeal. There are a huge range of options available in terms of color and style, making it easy to impress potential buyers. Some general tips we can offer within the entry door realm to those looking to maximize their value and ROI:
- Material: Wood doors are often best for appearance, but fiberglass tends to do better from an ROI standpoint – and is more customizable.
- Core: You also want a door that’s highly efficient in terms of temperature regulation, and for this you should as about a polyurethane foam core and high-quality weather stripping.
- Universal style: If you’re replacing the door with selling the home in mind, go as broad and universal as possible with the design. Something that’s too specific may turn off a number of potential buyers and lower your offers.
- Security rating: Finally, ensure your door is properly rated for safety and security.
Take out Siding Siding Installation
Another area that made a big jump in terms of overall home value upgrades last year was siding installation. Vinyl siding, in particular, makes a huge difference for curb appeal and has an ROI over 75%. You want to choose thick, durable panels that will maintain your structural integrity and support doors and windows. In addition, look for siding that has foam underlayment, which helps with insulation and lowers your utility bill. Finally, ensure you only purchase new siding from a reputable company, as there may be some unscrupulous manufacturers out there who look to take advantage of unsuspecting consumers.
